Evidence of God’s Grace
What makes a person beautiful? There was a time when I thought it was outward appearance or adherence to society’s standards. Now, I still think the outward appearance is a big indicator of beauty, but in a different way: the scars show beauty gained from pain. The skin hanging like crepe paper hints at past days of fullness and joy. The wrinkles broadcast breaking news of hands that clapped someone to victory or lips that smiled into someone’s soul. Every mark of aging is evidence of God’s grace in letting this life leave imprints on our souls. Wrinkles are regal, made for the wise who are crowned by God’s mercy.
“He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age.” (Ruth 4:15 NIV)
